Painting in JBR — La Vie & Address JBR

I've painted a lot of JBR apartments over the last 11 years, and the main difference is the salt air. The humidity is brutal too — we've had to stop painting by 11am in July because the paint won't dry properly. One thing I'll admit: we're not great at matching the exact shade of Benjamin Moore a designer picked out for a feature wall. If you're after a perfect colour match for a deposit return, bring us the actual paint can.

Look, if you're in one of the original JBR towers like Bahar or Murjan, you're looking at AED 12 to 20 per square foot for a proper job. That's not the cheap stuff – we're talking UV-rated exterior paint because that salt air from the beach will eat cheap paint in a year. For a two-bedroom in La Vie or Address JBR, expect AED 4,500 to AED 8,500 for interior walls and ceilings. A one-bedroom on The Walk runs about AED 3,200 to AED 5,800. Exterior painting on a balcony? That's extra because of the tower access rules – we need to coordinate with building management and sometimes use a boom lift, which adds AED 1,500 to AED 3,000.

Timing depends on size. A standard one-bedroom takes 3 to 4 days, but don't expect us to work in the summer heat on exterior stuff – it's just too hot for the paint to cure right. We'll do interior work year-round, but exterior jobs we schedule between October and April. The process is simple: we come by for a free quote, check the walls for any mould (common in JBR bathrooms), then we prep and paint. One honest caveat – those original JBR towers are 16 to 18 years old now, and we might find cracks or water damage under the old paint that we'll need to fix first. That's not included in the per-square-foot price, so budget an extra AED 800 to AED 1,200 for patching.
