Pool Maintenance in Al Barari — The Reserve

The Reserve is a different animal from a standard Dubai villa. These are custom-built homes on big plots, and the pool isn't just a pool — it's part of a landscape system. Mature trees drop leaves and seed pods into the water year-round, and the irrigation network that feeds those gardens is often tied into the same pump room. We've seen irrigation controllers with 12 zones sharing a feed with the pool fill line, so when someone tops up the pool, the garden pressure drops. You can't fix that with a standard valve kit.

Summer here pushes pool water past 36°C by mid-afternoon, which eats free chlorine fast. An infinity-edge pool with automated dosing takes longer per visit than a plain rectangle, so instead of the AED 350–450 monthly rate we quote after a site visit. Salt cells run AED 800–1,800 to replace every 3–5 years, and Al Barari's eco-builds — HRV, solar pre-heat — mean we don't treat the pump room like a conventional UAE setup.

What residents notice: cloudiness after a garden irrigation cycle, not after rain. That's the tell. We test with titration kits, not strips, because stabiliser creep on these big volumes hides the real problem. It's a slower job, and I won't pretend otherwise.

A standard pool in The Reserve runs AED 350–450 a month, chemicals included, on a fixed weekly day that doesn't move. Infiniti-edge pools with dosing automation take longer per visit — more surface, more probes to check — so we quote those after a site visit instead of guessing. Salt cells are AED 800–1,800 every 3–5 years; that's the cell itself, not a monthly cost. A green-water shock is a one-off on top, and a full drain and acid wash gets quoted separately because it depends on how much of the Al Barari tree canopy has been dropping into the water.

Each visit takes roughly 45–75 minutes on a standard pool. We test with titration kits — pH, free chlorine, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid — then balance, skim, brush walls and floor, vacuum, clear skimmer and pump baskets, backwash or clean the cartridge, check pump current and filter pressure, and inspect valves and lights. You get a WhatsApp report with before and after readings. Ashjar and The Nest spa pools get plunged rather than drained.

Here's the honest bit: Al Barari's irrigation controllers and HRV/solar pre-heat systems sit outside normal pool work, and I won't pretend otherwise. If a fault runs back into those, you'll want the original installer.
