One thing I'll admit: these old FCU motors fail more often than split units in villas. A standard villa AC might last 15 years without issues, but here, you're lucky to get 12 before the capacitor or fan motor goes. It's not ideal, but it's the reality of JLT.

For a standard FCU (fan coil unit) in a 1-bedroom apartment, you're looking at AED 150 to 380, depending on the issue—say a blocked condensate drain or capacitor swap. Split units run AED 200 to 450, with gas refills (R-410A) around AED 250 to 350 if it's a slow leak. Most jobs take 45 minutes to 2 hours, but don't expect a quick fix if it's a compressor fault or a PCB problem—those can stretch to 3-4 hours, and parts might need ordering from Al Quoz. Here's the honest caveat: many towers in Clusters A to Z have building management that requires us to get a chiller shutdown for FCU work, especially in summer when the heat hits 45°C. That can delay us by a day or two. Also, lake-facing units in lower floors—like those near Almas Tower or DMCC—have high humidity that overloads older ACs, so we might need to clean the evaporator coil or check the drain line twice.
